Finally back from SoCal, which, as always, was poignant.... I love seeing my mom and sister, and I miss them like mad now, but seriously, for the love of my sanity, let me never have to be in the same house with my grandmother ever ever again. Seriously, I have no idea how I survived living with her for so long. If I'd been there a few more days this trip they would have had to send me home in a straight jacket.
I got to do my zoo project this week at the San Diego zoo, which is effing awesome and has tons of Guenons.... and who effing knew, but I love love love love Guenons. They are awesome. Here is a picture of Rocky, the adult male Lesser Spot-Nosed Guenon that I watched for an hour:
He was totally cool... I tried bobbing my head at him, and he always did it right back to me. There was also a little baby one, but he moved too dang fast for me to get a good picture. He was a total ham, too, every time a big group of people came by he would start jumping around and doing flips on the ropes and hanging by his feet and stuff. I had a real blast watching him, though I had to write a lot faster to keep up with him. I wanted to do an hour with the orangutans, who are absolutely gorgeous, or the bonobos, who look at you in way that makes you forget they're a different species, but the enclosures were a lot bigger with lots of places where they could be that I wouldn't be able to see them, which makes tracking them a lot harder, so I stuck to the guenons and did the Schmidt's Spot-Nosed Guenon.
We also saw Wicked, which was effing amazing, and on the way out we just happened to notice a line by the stage door and ended up getting autographs and photos with some of the cast:
This is Adam Wylie, who played Boq
This is Megan Hilty, who as effing awesome as Glinda :)
This is Kristoffer Cusick, who played Fiyero.
Look, it's the Wizard, John Rubinstein.
And, the awesomest of the awesome, Eden Espinosa, who plays Elphaba.
All in all a great trip, but glad to be home again to my nice normal life :)
